Lower Lake Clementine is a small recreational reservoir located on the North Fork of the American River. It features great opportunities for boating, fishing and boat-in camping. The lake has approximately 3 miles of navigable waters, through a narrow winding canyon with 5 MPH no wake zones on either end of the lake. There is a small marina where seasonal and daily boat slip rentals are available, and fuel and ice are sold. There is a single boat launch, and parking is limited to 25 trailers, 15 of which reserved for campsites.
The Auburn Boat Club was founded in 1952 by a group of Placer County residents who shared a passion for boating and fellowship. Since its inception the Auburn Boat Club has been dedicated to providing the general public safe boating facilities at Lake Clementine. The club helped create one of the first launch ramps at Lake Clementine and to this day assists with the maintenance of the ramp.
In the early 1960’s the club erected a clubhouse and expanded the marina for the use of its members and the public. At the newly expanded marina, the club rented boat slips, sold gas and sundries, as well as provided an onsite caretaker to manage the marina, parking areas and launch ramp. All of these activities were under the terms of a long term contract with the Army Corp of Engineers. Many memorable functions and club activities were held at the clubhouse until the 1970s. Due to changing times the clubhouse had to be removed and it was taken down in the mid 1970s.
In 1979 the area surrounding Lake Clementine became part of the California State Parks’ Auburn State Recreation Area (ASRA). With this transition, the Auburn Boat Club worked with California State Parks to continue to serve the public by providing a marina with slips for the public and a fuel dock for those that used the lake.
In the early 2000’s the marina was revamped to provide over 50 slips for daily and seasonal rental.
Auburn Boat Club is proud to continue to be the California State Parks concessionaire for the Lake Clementine Marina and to provide the public with marina slip rentals, fuel sales and assistance with safe boating practices.
